The best way to travel around Bali is to hire a local driver who can speak English and knows the places well. Before hiring a Bali driver, it is important to check whether the driver:

1) can speak English (if you do not know Bahasa Indonesia)

2) has valid driving license (without this, the driver may try to avoid local policeman inspection by taking a longer route to reach the destination)

3) has a car with good air-conditioning

Depending on the car model, the price for hiring a driver for a day varies. If you are willing to take Toyota Advanza, for instance, the price can range from 300,000 Rupiah to 400,000 Rupiah, depending on the number of hiring hours. Toyota Kijang or Toyota Innova, a bigger multi-purpose vehicle can take more people (8 people, generally), will cost at least 450,000 Rupiah and above.
